La Lavender of Modena® organic is the only and original one with a trademark registered in 2020 by our farm Swan EstateIt is grown inside the Lavender field which extends over an area of 4 hectares of land in the Modena countryside, where the climatic characteristics and good exposure to the sun in open fields allow for optimal cultivation.
Characteristics and properties
La Lavender of Modena® grown on our farm is an Officinal Lavender, also called “True Lavender”: it belongs to the Lamiaceae family, is perennial and up to 100-120 cm tall with a bushy-shrub habit.
It has green leaves and elongated and narrow in shape; the flowers are small, violet in colour and gathered in spikes at the top of the stems, they bloom from June to September.
Some stages of the harvest, carried out in July: it is very important to cut the stems after the flowers have opened. The stems are tied into bunches and then left to dry in the open air. Once ready, they can be gently beaten to remove all the flowers.
La Lavender of Modena® It is organic and has many properties:

- antimicrobials
- healing
- astringents
Furthermore, it is a plant strongly aromatic and it is a excellent natural moth killer inside the linen drawers.
We have chosen to use it to create a cosmetics line that includes cleansers, scented sachets, essential oil and honey.
A curiosity: the name derives from the Latin word “lavare,” a reference to the fact that in ancient times the flowers were placed in bath water to perfume and cleanse the body.
