The Malpighi family

The origins of the Malpighi family, owners of the farm Swan Estate, date back to 1200Ancient and illustrious family of Bolognese origin, known since the 16th century, owes its greatest glory to the luminous figure of Marcello Malpighi who was an excellent doctor and anatomist.

1500 - 1850

Bocchetta Farm

In 1500 the Malpighi family inherits the “Bocchetta Farm” at the gates of Crevalcore (Bologna), which represents the first rural settlement of the family. In 1850 born in Modena Malpighi Acetaia, one of the oldest vinegar factories in the area: five generations of a family that has carried the tradition, passion and secrets of a food and wine excellence of the Modena area, Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena DOP, up to the present day.

1975 - present

The Swan Estate

In 1975 the Malpighi family founded the agricultural company Swan Estate, in which today is also found the Lavender field which took the name “Podere Bocchetta” in memory of the past: 4 hectares of land for the cultivation of the first organic Lavender of Modena® (the only and original from Modena, with a trademark registered by the farm in 2020) from which the line of organic, natural and hypoallergenic cosmetics is obtained.

In this new challenge, the Malpighi family continues to combine tradition and passion with creativity and the pursuit of excellence, celebrating artisanal products with a unique and authentic style, in true Emilian style.
