Lavender Water: What It Is and How It's Made
The Lavender Water, also known as “Lavender hydrolate”, is obtained during the distillation of Lavender through a process very similar to that used to extract the essential oil.
The freshly picked flowers are placed inside a still, where they are vaporized and then condensed. Lavender Water is the result of this condensation process and contains a mixture of aromatic molecules, water-soluble compounds, and traces of essential oil.
Properties and benefits for the skin
Lavender water has a very delicate aroma, similar to that of fresh flowers, and is known for its refreshing and soothing properties. It is rich in beneficial compounds such as rosmarinic acid, flavonoids, and other natural substances that provide hydration, balance, and protection to the skin.
It is important to choose a high quality Lavender Water, preferably obtained from organic farming and through controlled distillation processes. Furthermore, it is advisable to store it in a cool, dark place to preserve its properties over time.

The Lavender Water from Tenuta Cigno It is an exclusive and refined product that captures the pure essence of Organic Modena Lavender®, the only and original one with a trademark registered in 2020 by our farm. It is grown within the Lavender field which extends over an area of 4 hectares of land in the Modena countryside, where the climatic characteristics and good exposure to the sun in open fields allow for optimal cultivation.
It is a medicinal lavender, also known as "true lavender": it belongs to the Lamiaceae family, is a perennial and grows up to 100-120 cm tall with a bushy-shrub-like growth habit. It has elongated, narrow green leaves; the flowers are small, purple, and clustered in spikes at the apex of the stems, blooming from June to September.
