A journey among the pomegranate trees of the Tenuta del Cigno estate: three hundred organically grown plants, with juicy, flavorful fruit.

On our Tenuta del Cigno farm, a special corner is dedicated to the pomegranate orchard.
Of the approximately twenty hectares of land of this oasis of peace, which was once a migratory area for swans, a significant portion is dedicated to the organic cultivation of 300 pomegranate trees which every year give us fruit with juicy and delicious seeds.
But let's first find out what a pomegranate is and why its fruit is considered virtuous.
The pomegranate, symbol of life and territory

The fruit of the pomegranate plant, a symbol of abundance, fertility and good fortune , has been known since ancient times.
The scientific name of the pomegranate tree, Punica granatum, derives from Latin Punicus because that's what Pliny called it, believing it to be originally from North Africa.
It is a resistant, long-lived and undemanding plant, which produces excellent fruits for health, rich in antioxidants, vitamins (A, C, E, K) and potassium.
The fruit has a tough, leathery skin that protects a precious treasure: hundreds of small, juicy seeds, called arils.
On our farm in Modena, we've chosen to dedicate a large area to growing this fruit because it perfectly embodies our philosophy. The orchard isn't just a farm, but a "red lung" that enriches the estate's biodiversity.
Seeing the plants bloom in summer and bear heavy fruit in autumn is a spectacle that enhances our region, offering a product that is a true blend of nature and health.
300 plants, one goal: organic quality
We lovingly cultivate approximately 300 pomegranate trees (of the Punica granatum variety ). Besides being a millennia-old symbol of good fortune and fertility, for us the pomegranate represents our daily commitment to sustainable agriculture.
We strictly follow the organic method :
- Zero chemistry: no synthetic pesticides or herbicides.
- Respect for natural cycles: We only use organic fertilizers.
- Authentic flavor: The result is a healthy fruit, with juicy and tasty seeds.
